Sweden - what went wrong?

So what happened in Sweden that caused some WESTA members who couldn't make the trip to end up in a serious discussion at half time about whether or not potatos were used in the creation of macaroon bars? What caused some to claim the highlight of the game was catching a glimpse of a couple of the WESTA girls on the TV, and one WESTA member to have delayed shock and destroy her boyfriends laptop with a glass of wine in the days after the game?

Was it the lack of depth in the squad? was it the lack of playing time (only our 2nd game this year!!!)? Was it that the squad had heard storys about some of the elder members of WESTA still giving it laudy on the dance floor at 3am the night before the game?

Well these did play a part but when you look closely at past results between Scotland & Nordic teams we have a good record winning 36 of 65 encounters, but there are 4 encounters that are significant :

2002 v Denmark L 0-1

2003 v Norway D 0-0

2009 v Norway L 0-4

2010 v Sweden L 0-3

Why are these significant?

Because they are a list of all the games we have played in the Nordic countries in the month of August!!! That is where we went wrong! We should NEVER AGAIN schedule away fixtures against Nordic teams in the month of August. I trust our ATAC rep will be raising this with the SFA at the first possible opportunity

Lithu-bloddy-ania

Well its Euro qualifier time again and that must mean one thing, yes yet another trip to Lithu-bloody-ania!!!

This is the 4th consecutive time we have been drawn in the same Euro group as Lithuania. Our record against them isn't as bad as many seem to think of the 6 games we have won 4 drawn 1 and lost 1. However it is that 1-0 loss (the first time we played them in Kanuas) that people remember combined with over familiarity and also the fact that Lithuania keep sending us back to their equilivent of North Cro....sorry Cumbernauld that many don't look forward to this trip. So if your not all that up for it (or if you are) Click CLICK HERE to relive Christian Dailly's Header and mind a time when Kenny Miller scored regulary for us.

LIECHTENSTEIN

What to say about a country that can fit its entire population into Hampden and still have room for 19,000 of us in as well, uses the tune of God Save the Queen for their national anthem, has the highest ratio of GDP in the world, is the world's largest producer of false teeth and is the only country to have ever lost to San Marino in football?

Footballing wise they are minnows but as we Scot's know all to well minnows aren't always easy to beat. The mahority of their players come form the Vaduz club, who play in the Swiss league and are well known to Falkirk fans as they knocked them out of europe last season

As we have never played them there is no video footage to link to so in recognition of the fact that the Lithuania away game pushes the 2007 France game off the 10 point ladder CLICK HERE for one of the greatest goals on one of the greatest nights in Scotland's history!
